Overview: Norman Regional Hospital ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. NRHS ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. An ICU RN is highly skilled to rapidly assess a patient's condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals. The RN should understand and employ patient safety and harm prevention tools. Responsibilities: Charge Nurse (RN) essential functions include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinates the nursing services of a single department by leading, directing and collaborating within the interdisciplinary care team.
• Serves as department leader alongside and in absences of the Supervisor or Nurse Manager.
• Collaboration with other health professionals, assessment & analyzing assessment data.
• Establishing goals, planning care strategy, establishing priorities of care & implementing care.
• Delegating tasks safely, providing safe direct and indirect nursing care, evaluating responses to interventions.
• Performing additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation.
• Care of adult patients.
• NRHS utilizes the Meditech EMR system, Mobilab, and bedside scanning technology. Qualifications: EDUCATION Diploma or Associate in Nursing degree (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. EXPERIENCE One year critical care experience as a Registered Nurse required. Charge Nurse experience preferred. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required prior to providing patient care and is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training or retraining is required prior to providing patient care and is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. OTHER KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS/ ABILITIES
    • ICU RN required classes- to include basic arrhythmia, basic 12 lead, advance 12 lead, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, basic pacemaker, CRRT, and Arctic Sun within 12 months of hire.
