Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel /n Job Description/n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical Specialty Med/Surg position requiring step-down and acute care surgical floor experience. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Position is on a post-surgical Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting - Cares for surgical patients both pre- and post-operatively, including ENT and transplant cases - Patient ratios are 5 or 6:1 for surgical patients and 3 or 4:1 for step-down patients - Must manage patients with new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, and nasogastric or dobhoff tubes - Shift is three 12-hour day shifts per week - No OR duties included - Must be able to organize, plan, and coordinate patient care and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team - Responsible for assessment, implementation of care, medication administration, and monitoring of surgical patients - Strong communication skills required to interact with patients, families, and support staff regarding care plans and hospital procedures - No local candidates accepted; must live greater than 50 miles from the facility - First-time travelers will not be considered for this unit /n /n Requirements/n - Active OK or compact RN license required - Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred - Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required - Minimum 1 year of recent acute care surgical floor experience required - Prior travel nursing and step-down experience are required - Solid skills in managing post-op patients and using related monitoring and treatment techniques - Computer proficiency required /n Benefits/n - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts /n American Traveler Job ID P-653791.
