POSITION SUMMARY Performs company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, construction, and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems. Must be able to maintain a valid Driver’s License and all applicable endorsements. This position is subject to random DOT drug and alcohol testing. Must maintain all necessary Operator Qualifications (OQ) applicable for the position. Position requires employees to be on call after normal business hours for emergency response activities. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Installs, repairs, or replaces steel and plastic pipe. Provides First Responder assistance in emergency situations. Locates gas lines. Loads and unloads required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truck. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages), punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Requires no prior work experience. Class A CDL and Arc Welding experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Able to pass written portion of commercial driver’s license (CDL) test within 12 months and attain complete CDL within 24 months. Able to obtain company plastic fusion certification within 12 months and company Arc welding certification within 24 months. Able to learn to operate heavy equipment such as backhoe, trencher and a two-ton or larger truck. Able to use the proper tools for any given job. Able to assist with Plugging and Tapping procedures. Able to assist in preparation of pipe for welding. Able to learn to use a Personal Computer, SAP, and Mobile Data. Able to demonstrate an aptitude for basic mechanical tasks. Qualifications You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR Education Substitution: A bachelor&#039;s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor&#039;s degree from an accredited college or university; OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education.
